About Us
Every piece is printed to order, one at a time.
PrecursorPrints is a small independent 3D printing studio in New Jersey. We make book nooks, wall mounts, dice towers and display figures for people who want their shelves to say something about them. Nothing here sits in a warehouse. When you place an order, that piece gets printed for you.
How your piece is made
Each design starts as a digital sculpt that gets test printed, checked for detail and adjusted until it comes off the plate clean. Once a model earns its place in the shop, it goes into the catalog and gets printed on demand.
Meet the fleet
There are three printers in the studio, and yes, they have names. Goliath is the H2D, the big one, and it takes on the largest pieces and anything that needs more than one color. ED-E is the P2S and Ashe is the P1S, and between them they handle the day-to-day run of nooks, mounts and towers. When you order, one of the three is running your piece.
Your order is printed in PLA, a rigid, lightweight plastic that holds fine detail well and displays beautifully indoors. We print at a fine layer height so the details that make a sculpt worth owning, the panel lines, the texture, the small facial work, actually survive into the finished object. A single piece can take many hours on the printer. It is then removed by hand, checked over, and packed for the trip to you.
Color comes from the filament
Nothing we sell is painted. The color you see is the plastic itself, which means it will never chip or scuff off. Some pieces print in a single solid color, which keeps the surface uniform and lets the sculpt detail read clearly instead of competing with paintwork. Others, especially figures and decor pieces, are multi-color. The product photos show exactly what you get, so check them before you order.
If you would rather paint it yourself, an unpainted single-color piece makes an ideal blank canvas.
Book nooks: assembled, or in parts
Most book nooks give you a choice at checkout:
- Ready to Display. Assembled and ready to go straight onto the shelf or wall.
- Unassembled (best for painting). Ships as separate parts so every surface is reachable. If you want to prime and paint it yourself, this is the one you want.
This choice is specific to book nooks. Everything else in the shop, including figures, bookends, dice towers, drinkware and decor, ships as one finished piece.
What to expect, honestly
We would rather tell you this up front than have it be a surprise in the box:
- Light layer lines are normal on 3D printed work. They are part of how the object is made, and part of its character.
- Color can vary slightly from the photos. Product images are there to show you the sculpt, the shape and the detail.
- Books, shelving, plants and other props in our photos are for scale and staging. They are not included.
- Because each piece is made individually, small variations between prints happen. No two are quite identical.
- PLA softens in heat. Keep your piece out of direct sunlight and away from radiators, heaters and parked cars.
Independent and fan-made
We are an independent maker, not a studio or a licensee. Our tribute pieces are unofficial fan art, not affiliated with or endorsed by any rights holder. We sell physical printed objects only. No digital files are sold or transferred.
